We are looking for a Senior Tax Analyst to utilize research skills, apply tax foundational knowledge to understand potential tax issues, gather financial and tax information necessary for tax filings, participate in tax planning, recognize and communicate potential risks, prepare tax accrual workpapers, and work with tax software applications to complete tax returns for review.
JOB DUTIES
1. Prepares and reviews partnership, consolidated corporate, and Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) workpapers and tax returns for federal, state, and local authorities.
2. Calculates, analyzes, and reviews state apportionment data for the preparation of state and local tax returns.
3. Maintains a tax calendar to effectively track statutory and internal due dates for all tax filings.
4. Coordinates with and provides data to outside tax consultants and legal counsel related to tax compliance matters.
5. Conducts quarterly and annual REIT audit testing calculations and projections.
6. Conducts annual calculation and public reporting of tax classification of Company dividends.
7. Completes federal and state tax examinations and prepares schedules in response to information document requests; performs appropriate research in preparation for tax audits.
8. Researches and documents federal and state tax compliance issues.
9. Develops and maintains an in-depth knowledge of federal and state tax laws, regulations, and current tax developments.
10. Evaluates book to tax differences related to fixed assets; utilizes FAS software to compute tax asset depreciation reports.
11. Supports external firms in the preparation of the annual report financial disclosures for income taxes.
12. Manages multiple responsibilities and projects while maintaining internal and statutory deadlines.
13. Participates in and provides suggestions for updating department processes.
14. Assists with sale and use tax return and personal property tax return preparation and review.
15. Other duties and special projects as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
Minimum of 5-7 years experience preparing and reviewing federal and state consolidated corporate and partnership tax returns
Public accounting work experience with Big-4 or large firm, preferred, or equivalent work experience with large multi-state Corporation.
Ability to work independently
Advanced proficiency with OneSource or GoSystem tax preparation software, the Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Acrobat
Community: Sun Communities - Main OfficeEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
