Full-TimeLocation On-site, Southfield, MI SummaryFounded in 2002, Beyond Basics is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to eradicate illiteracy, transforming the lives of students, and creating stronger communities.
Our one-on-one, multisensory tutoring program helps students achieve grade-level proficiency in reading in an average of six weeks.
In addition to our structured literacy interventions, we cultivate curiosity and encourage a love of lifelong learning with fine arts activities that expand horizons.
The Director of Human Resources will have the opportunity to help shape the people strategy for Beyond Basics during a time of rapid organizational growth.
This position will direct the organization's hiring strategy, manage employee relations, evaluate, and recommend total rewards and establish programs to enhance company culture.
The Director of HR will be instrumental in ensuring consistent and effective internal processes and communications to strengthen Beyond Basic's central office and position the organization for continued success.
Duties and Responsibilities HR Leadership and Team Management:
Leading and managing the HR team, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities.
This involves setting departmental goals, managing budgets, and collaborating with senior management to align HR initiatives with organizational objectives.
Strategic HR Planning:
Developing and implementing HR strategies aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.
This includes workforce planning, succession planning, talent acquisition, and retention strategies.
Policy Development and Implementation:
Creating and implementing HR policies and procedures that align with employment laws, industry best practices, and the organization's culture.
This involves ensuring compliance with legal regulations and managing employee relations issues.
Talent Acquisition and Management:
Overseeing the recruitment and selection process to attract and hire top talent.
This includes developing job descriptions, conducting interviews, and collaborating with hiring managers.
Additionally, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies for employee onboarding, development, and performance management.
Compensation and
Benefits:
Designing and managing compensation and benefits programs to attract, retain, and motivate employees.
This involves conducting salary benchmarking, overseeing the administration of employee benefits, and ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
Employee Relations:
Managing employee relations by developing and implementing policies and procedures to foster a positive work environment.
This includes handling employee grievances, mediating conflicts, and promoting effective communication between management and employees.
Performance Management:
Implementing performance management systems to align individual and team goals with organizational objectives.
This involves setting performance expectations, conducting performance evaluations, providing feedback, and addressing performance-related issues.
Compliance and Legal Issues:
Ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations.
This includes staying up to date with labor laws, maintaining accurate employee records, and managing legal issues related to employment.
HR Analytics:
Utilizing HR data and analytics to drive informed decision-making.
This includes analyzing HR metrics, such as employee turnover, engagement, and productivity, to identify trends and develop strategies for improvement.
Education and Skills Requirement Minimum 5 years of experience in HR leadership.
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree or SPHR/SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
Understanding of all HR functions and proven ability to drive a strategic workforce plan.
Highly organized and ability to wear multiple hats in a fast-moving environment; a driving force who manages toward clarity and solutions.
A successful track record in setting priorities, shaping processes, guiding investment in people and systems, and developing an infrastructure that creates a stronger and more efficient organization.
Thorough understanding of project management; able to work effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines and goals.
Excellent computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Constant Contact and Outlook.
A consummate team player with a flexible and creative approach.
Excellent communication and coalition building skills with an ability to balance, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
In-depth knowledge of labor laws and HR practices.
The ability to remain calm in stressful situations and deal well with conflict.
Strong ethics and sound judgment.

Work EnvironmentThis position operates on-site in an office environment on a day-to-day basis.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
